12 Oct Organ International Festival “Cathedral of León”
Until 3 November, Leon hosts the prestigious Organ International Festival “Cathedral of Leon” that goes for edition number 34 and will offer 17 concerts (11 organ recitals by renowned international interpreters and 6 performances of important national sets of historical music). Access is free until capacity is reached and concerts are at 9 pm.
On this occasion, one of the axes of the Festival is the commemoration of the quarter century of the death of one of the most important composers for organ of the history of 20th century music: Olivier Messiaen, who died in Paris on April 28th in 1992, he was the titular organist of the church of La Trinité, in Paris, during more than sixty years. His music will be the protagonist in the concerts of the organists David Briggs, Jean-Baptiste Monnot, Giampaolo di Rosa and Óscar Candendo, besides being part of the program of the clarinetist José Luis Estellés and the countertenor Carlos Mena, who will sing his works accompanied to the organ by Jeremy Joseph.
