Holy Week in Seville is one of the most anticipated events throughout the year. With a strong religious component, Seville take to the streets to see pass the guilds, walking with their slow steps through the streets of the city, in a tradition dating back to the fourteenth century.
During Holy Week, there are processions every day for the evening-night, besides the brotherhoods that leave early on Friday. The “costaleros” carry up the images of the Virgin and Jesus throughout the city. Each brotherhood wears a different robe and all Nazarites are covered with hood and mask. Behind them followed the penitents. A crowd of Seville and visitors attending the processions.
